I managed to get about 500 words on Ghost Garden last night. I think I’m starting it in a good place. It’s going to be basically about three scenes. That gives me close to 425 words a scene. Beginning, middle, and end. Can’t get easier than that. I’m also playing with something a little lighter and humorous—it’s kind of a boy detective story, like Encyclopedia Brown.
It’s going to be my goal to crank out one of these shorter style stories a week. I’ll be doing this along with all my revision work on my larger stories until October. It always feels good to get something finished. To have something new to send out the door. And if I can keep them under 2k, all the better.
Oh, I also got my first Moleskine last night. I’m not certain what I’ll do with it. I’ve seen a few GTD hacks on the web using the Moleskine as an organization tool, but I don’t know if I’ll try that. Basically, I’ve come up with a marking system for my workflow. It’s easy enough for me just to use it as a journal and mark what needs doing with my standard markup.
