Spewed out a good 2700 words on the new story. I originally wanted to call this “The Vampire of Brownsville,” but he’s not really from Brownsville anymore. So I’m going to go with “The Wedding Game” for now. I can tell this one is going to be long and will need a second or third pass to get the story perfect. I’m discovering things as I write and that never makes for a clear, coherent story for me.
My sleep schedule has been completely screwed lately. I don’t seem to be able to stay awake when I get home from work and I can’t sleep at night. It’s almost like my body just wants to take a series of short naps. I’m no Edison, I can’t survive in my real life this way. It seems to be pretty good for the writing though. I have a feeling I could be a really fast writer if I could actually dedicate myself to it everyday.
However, I think if I can stick to writing and sending a short story a week I’ll be where I want to be in a year. All of these places where I have these little niggling doubts will get worked out.
Practice makes pretty darn close to perfect, right?
So far this year I have:
2 stories in the mail
1 on the writing rack
3 in revision
