I read on Ken Scholes livejournal that Ken Rand has passed away. I didn’t personally know Ken, but his books on writing have been a constant companion to me. I carry his 10% Solution in my laptop case and have a digital copy of his Story in 90 Seconds on the Mac that I read regularly–it was one of the books instrumental in my return to writing after my two year hiatus.

Like I said, I didn’t know the man personally, but I feel like I’ve lost a friend anyway.
