Recall in the mail
Recall is done and in the mail. Yep, another story down. Hopefully, it’s accepted. I think it will be. I like the little magazine it’s going to. It’s a semi-pro market, which for the uninitiated means they pay a little bit of money, but not quite pro rates. However, the magazine is good quality and so far it’s received favorable reviews, so I have no worries about it going there.
Here’s a little excerpt:
Nathaniel opened the door. Before him stood what looked like a UNC ground trooper. It wore the same dark blue battle fatigues and flat gray helmet, but where a man’s face would be was instead a smiling mask. It looked human, except that the designers of the mask had exaggerated its expressions to make it appear friendly, almost like a cartoon version of a soldier.
I’m on to work with my vampire story. It’s not really a vampire story. In fact, this is one of those stories that are really light on the speculative elements. It’s my hope that it can still land in a speculative market, but I might branch out and send this to a few literary journals. That might be a waste of time, but there’s always the chance. Like winning the lottery!
Now for some real talent, go read Gord Sellar’s incredible story “Cai and Her Ten Thousand Husbands” at Apex Magazine.
