I haven’t taken the time to blog about my new favorite game. Of course, I haven’t been playing it a lot either. I’ve been busy with the book and that’s taking priority over my normal MMORPG obsession. Faireuza is retired until WoTLK comes out. She has been for about four months now and the break has been great. What I’ve been playing has been the BETA for Mythic’s Warhammer: Age of Reconning. I’m late to the BETA, so I don’t have a lot to report on it. I’ve probably only logged about 8 hours total. I thought for sure that my favored class would be the White Lion, seeing how I played a hunter in WoW, but it turns out that the Disciple is the class for me. And for once I’m actually playing a male character. It just seems more fitting for this character to be male. Overall, my impression is that WAR is WoW with much better graphics, real PvP (called RvR in WAR), and more ways to level than you can shake an epic dagger at. There are some things I think it’s lacking, like a solid economy and some of the crafting and in-game hobby systems that will attract casual/social players. However, if you think you can live without in-game fishing, you might find you like the character creation and all the class options better. WAR will be an alt-aholics dream. WAR will be an RPG players dream. I think the boys and girls at Mythic have put out a solid and enjoyable MMO. I’m glad I’ve had the chance to give it a preview. I probably won’t comment much more until the official release, and then it will pretty much be just to give you some information on my progress. Writing is my main hobby, and for the next few months I’ll be spending a lot more time on it than on any game.
